LIMBANG: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s helicopter was turned back from Batu Danau after being unable to land in water-logged Tedungan CIQ.

“It was so near and yet so far,” he lamented after touching down at Limbang airport after the missed trip to Bidang Relief Centre which would normally take 45 minutes to reach by road.

The Hornbill Skyway helicopter took off from Limbang Airport for Tedungan CIQ but was forced to return at 4.38 pm, followed by three other helicopters carrying other dignitaries as the weather worsened.

The Deputy Prime Minister had earlier attended a briefing by Limbang Division chairman Maria Hasman which was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Alfred Jabu anak Numpang, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, National Security Council secretary Tan Sri Mohd Thajudeen Abdul Wahab, Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and others.

Muhyiddin however said he will return to Limbang at an appropriate time on a different occasion.
