MIRI: A total of 30 families from Kampung Batu Danau, Limbang have received donations of rice and dry food.

Councillor Kungee Sandhu, who is from Batu Danau, made the personal donation to the flood victims.

“I’m giving some small donation to help ease the suffering of the flood victims in Kampung Batu Danau,” he said.

Kungee, whose own home was also affected by flooding, called on the government to develop a long-term plan to prevent future floods.

He said funding should be provided to build more drains, retaining walls and to raise the level of roads near the village.

“I hope the authorities concerned have a long-term master plan to overcome the flooding there as it is also the main road connecting Brunei, Miri, Sabah and Limbang,” he added.

Kungee also called on more non-governmental organisations to help the flood victims in Limbang, especially in Medamit, Batu Danau and villages located along the lower Limbang River.

He also thanked those who have already assisted the flood victims.
