JOHOR BAHARU: The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia has been urged to continue to monitor construction sites, especially in Johor, from becoming breeding grounds for aedes mosquitoes.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said CIDB should also advise developers to address the issue on cleanliness at their construction sites to avoid the area from becoming
breeding grounds for aedes mosquitoes.

“We have suggested to CIDB, if there are mosquito breeding grounds found in the area, they (CIDB) have the authority to advise developers to stop operation at the affected project sites until the area has been cleaned,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Earlier, Ayub visited the residence of staff at the Sultan Abu Bakar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex here, where dengue outbreak was reported five times last year.

He said a special committee had been set up to address the spread of dengue in the state.
