Palm oil stocks, output and exports down in January

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s palm oil stocks, output and exports fell in January 2015 from a month ago, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

In January, total palm oil stocks decreased 12.18 per cent to 1.77 million tonnes, from 2.01 million tonnes in December 2014.

Of that, processed palm oil accounted for 888,996 tonnes and crude palm oil (CPO) at 881,303 tonnes, it said in a statement yesterday.

In January, MPOB said CPO output declined 14.96 per cent to 1.16 million tonnes from 1.36 million tonnes in the previous month.

Meanwhile, palm oil exports too fell 22.07 per cent to 1.18 million tonnes, while that of oleochemicals dropped 10.87 per cent to 222,186 tonnes from 249,283 tonnes.

Exports of biodiesel were sharply lower at 10,490 tonnes, down 49.12 per cent from 20,616 tonnes previously. — Bernama
