KUCHING: Staff at a Poslaju office at Jalan Song were left feeling on edge on Monday after an alleged gunshot left a hole in the glass panel of the service counter.
The incident happened around 6.30pm when the office was already closed for the day.
A worker is said to have first heard the sound of a car driving past the premises followed by
what was thought to be a gunshot.
The matter was then brought to the attention of a supervisor who, upon checking, found a small hole in the glass panel of the service counter.
Police arrived to investigate after being notified and discovered a ball bearing at the scene.
When contacted yesterday, district police chief ACP Roslan Bek Ahmad dismissed the idea that the Poslaju office was shot at with a gun, saying instead that it was due to someone firing a slingshot.
“The damage was minimal (and) not due to a gunshot. Believed to have been a slingshot and (we) are investigating it as (an act of) mischief.”
