Man dies after being recovered from river


KUCHING: Search operations for 73-year-old Lee Tambi reported missing and feared drowned in Sungai Tabuan this morning seemed to have a hopeful outcome when he was discovered by members of the public at 2pm reportedly fatigued, but alive at the Tabuan Foochow jetty.

When Civil Defense Department (JPAM) arrived at Tabuan Foochow jetty at 2.20pm however, Lee showed no vital sighs and was confirmed dead by hospital authorities.

Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Services department (Bomba) had also dispatched eight personnel along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) and a boat in the search for Lee who resided in Kpg Tabuan Tengah.
