KUCHING: A routine traffic patrol yesterday led to the arrest of a foreigner, who is suspected to have stolen a motorcycle here.
Around 9.30am, traffic police spotted two men riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli here and signalled for them to stop.
The duo, however, ran towards Jalan Hup Kee after bringing the motorbike to a halt. Policemen immediately gave chase and later, managed to apprehend one of them – an Indonesian, 32 – at a nearby residential area.
Police later found that the motorcycle left behind by the pair matched the one reported stolen in front of a convenient store at Batu Kawah on Feb 6.
The suspect would remain in lock-up pending further investigations into his possible involvement in other motorcycle theft cases in the city.
