The bus lying inside a drain in Selepong.
SRI AMAN: Ten passengers were injured in an accident after the bus they were in plunged into a drain near Selepong here yesterday.
The bus was on its way to Sibu from Tebedu when the incident happened around 1.30pm.
It is said that the passengers were Indonesian nationals heading to Bintulu and Miri for work.
Two passengers were seriously injured while the other eight sustained light injuries. All were sent to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.
According to a witness, the bus veered into a drain as it reached Selepong, some 20km from here.
“The driver might have lost control after being startled by the sudden appearance of a four wheel-drive in front of the bus, which spun and skidded first,” the witness said.
The bus driver did not suffer any injuries.
