MIRI: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said he sensed a ‘revival’ of SUPP here.

Speaking at the SUPP Chinese New Year Gathering here on Sunday, the chief minister said it was a good sign as Miri was long deemed a fortress for the BN, but that was before the last state election in April 2011, where SUPP lost Piasau and Pujut.

In the last general election in 2013, SUPP lost Miri, too.

“One thing I noticed, and this is definite, is that there is a revival of SUPP in Miri through Piasau, Pujut and Senadin branches.

“I can see the smiling faces of the people. I hope this revival will continue to grow until we wrest back the seats we had lost.”

On peninsula-based parties, Adenan said he did not want them to destabilise the state’s harmonious environment.

He added that the state BN would safeguard the interest of the state and its people at all cost.

“I’ve received reassurance from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that Umno will not come to Sarawak.

“He (Najib) has full trust in us as he said we know Sarawak better.”

Hence, Adenan advised PKR, DAP and PAS to stop dreaming of seizing power in the state.

“If Umno has no intention of coming to Sarawak, what to say of PKR, DAP and PAS? They’re all peninsula-based parties, and what do they know about Sarawak?

“Don’t come here and try to teach us what to do for Sarawak because we know what is best for our motherland.”
