CHMS No. 1 students mind their English

KUCHING: All Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No.1’s SPM 2014 candidates passed the English subject in last year’s SPM.

A press statement issued by the school yesterday said Chinese independent schools were therefore strong in Chinese and Mathematics on top of English.

There were 168 candidates sitting for the exam with the average passing rate for all subjects at 80 per cent.

The passing rate for Chinese is 98.8 per cent and Additional Maths 98.65 per cent.

As for other subjects like Mathematics, Science, Biology and Physics, the passing rate is 90 per cent. Among the total candidates, 24 scored 5As or more.

Meanwhile, the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) 2014 examination saw one student scoring 10As.

The student was awarded RM500 incentive while two others received RM180 each for scoring 8As.
