KUCHING: Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has launched the new Elantra Facelift at all its showroom nationwide.

According to a press release, the Elantra Facelift features 14 new improvements and upgrades, making it much sharper in looks as compared to its predecessor with a slight tweak on the car’s exterior.

Improvements are reflected in the interior of the car with the introduction of several new advanced features.

The overall length of the Elantra Facelift has increased to 4,550 mm, 20mm longer than its predecessor, while maintaining its wheelbase. With front and rear bumpers extended by five mm and 15mm, respectively, the new facelift projects a more stable, balanced look.

According to Lau Yit Mun, managing director of HSDM, car buyers looking for a new C-segment will be pleased with the new facelifted Elantra.

“This new version of the Elantra is complete in every way. Apart from maintaining the great features of the original Elantra, we have fitted additional advanced features into the facelifted model,” said Lau.

The Elantra also features the latest active and passive safety technologies to ensure maximum protection for its occupants such as Ultra-high Tensile Strength body, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) and HAC (Hill-Start Assist Control) – applicable across all variants.

The 1.6 Premium and 1.8 Premium variants come with six airbags.

The global sale of the Elantra has reached 10 million units recently, which makes it the first Hyundai model and one of only 10 cars in the auto industry to achieve that record.

The Elantra, which was launched 24 years ago in 1990 was able to reach this mark by selling an average of 420,000 units a year or approximately 1,100 units a day.
