KUCHING: State Barisan Nasional Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof does not rule out the possibility of more youth leaders from BN components being nominated as candidates in the upcoming state election.

He said there were many capable BN youth leaders who deserve to be considered as candidates, and the youth wings of respective state BN components could suggest potential names as candidates although the final decision still lays at the hands of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

As far as Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is concerned, he said the party of which he is also the Youth chief could only suggest a list of youth members who have the potential to be candidates.

“There are members in the youth wing who have the potential to be candidates. However, we are only capable of suggesting – the final decision is given to the Chief Minister and Prime Minister,” he told reporters after officiating at the ‘SMK Semerah Padi Excellent Student Appreciation Ceremony’ yesterday.

To a question, Fadillah said PBB would not wait until election time to carry out special programmes to endear themselves to the voters because such programmes were ongoing.

“This means that our services are done at anytime,” he said, adding that the youth movement was going to continue to focus on programmes by approaching the grassroots to continue the youth armada.

“This covers programmes in the form of exercise, welfare and helping disaster victims. We also focus on ensuring that youths have a connection with the working world and have skills,” he said.
