Man caught with air gun in Bandar Baru Permyjaya

The suspect being led off to police vehicle to be taken to court for remand application.

MIRI: Police arrested a local man here for possession of an air gun at a house in Bandar Baru Permyjaya on Saturday.

Miri deputy police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit disclosed that the 27-year-old man was detained around 11.30pm during a raid led by ASP Soliment Nyian.

“During the raid, upon inspection of the suspect’s house, police found the air gun wrapped up in old newspapers dated Feb 1, 2015,” said Stanley.

The gun was discovered next to a refrigerator.

“The suspect has been taken to Miri central police station (CPS) to facilitate police investigation,” added Stanley.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960, which is punishable with imprisonment not exceeding seven years or a fine not exceeding RM10,000 or both upon conviction.
