MIRI: Police have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in four house break-in cases reported around Permyjaya, Lutong and Senadin on Saturday night.

In the 11pm raid led by Inspector Koay Kok Ping, police raided a house in Kampung Tudan here and arrested the suspect, who is believed to be in his early 20’s.

After a quick search, police found the suspect hiding underneath his parent’s bed after he had spotted the police approaching the house via closed circuit television (CCTV) units installed around the house.

Miri police chief, ACP Gan Tian Kee, disclosed that the suspect was active in house break-ins at the end of last year.

During the raid, police also seized stolen items that were kept by the suspect inside a safety box in his room.

Among the stolen items were two laptops, seven tablet computers, four CCTV units, a handphone, a television and five branded wristwatches.

All the seized items and the suspect have been brought to Miri central police station (CPS).

“The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-ins,” said Gan.

Gan added that police had also found several tubes containing illegal substances on the suspect.
