Two college students among three held for circulating counterfeit currency

TEMERLOH: The police have detained three people, including two college students, linked to the circulation of counterfeit currency during a raid in Lanchang on Monday.

Temerloh police deputy chief, Supt Zundin Mahmood said 49 pieces of RM100 notes believed to be fake were seized from the suspects aged between 19 and 30, from Selangor.

He said the trio, including a mechanic were nabbed about 3.30pm while buying goods at a sundry shop in Lanchang.

“Upon inspection, the police found 13 pieces of fake RM100 notes in a black bag carried by one of suspects,” he told reporters here yesterday.

According to Zundin, from an inspection of a nearby car rented by one of them, 13 more pieces of RM100 notes, believed to be fakes, and six pornographic DVDs were found hidden in a book in its booth. — Bernama
