UCTS hosts photography contest of the campus

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) is hosting a photography contest for members of the public this month.

They invite amateur photographers to come into their campus to take photographs of both the day and night scenes categories of the contest.

Event spokesman said the competition commenced yesterday (Wednesday) and the campus is opened to photographers Mondays to Saturdays this month.

He said the daylight shooting session is 9am to 4pm while the two-hour session for evening scene is on March 23 and April 6 starting 7pm.

Registration fee is RM5. Only digital or film camera is allowed (no mobile phone). All the photo artworks must be from of scenes taken within the campus. They have to be submitted in the form of picture (8R – 8×10 inch or 8×12 inch) with the soft copy (CD or DVD).

Each participant is allowed to submit only 3 pieces of artworks and each winning participant is entitled to one prize only.

Printed photograph must be mounted on a mounting board with name, address and contact information at the back of the mounting board.

The spokesman added: “Deceitful or excessive editing will be disqualified. Participating picture must be the sole work of the contestants, and by submitting an artwork, participants agree to the organizers for copying or displaying without compensation.” He said all artworks would be the possession of the organizers and sponsors, and artworks would be judged based on creativity, composition, technical skill and distinction.

Participants must obtain visitor passes from the reception counter prior to indoor photo shooting. Indoor photo-shoot must be in the presence of UCTS staff and each shooting session for the day category is limited 1 hour per participant. The indoor photo shooting is available from Monday to Friday.

Announcement of results and the awards ceremony will be held on April 11 at 1pm during university’s open day.

Entries must be submitted to the UCTS’ counter on April 9 before 5pm.
