Chinese in Buso keeping faith with Nansian for BN ticket in state polls

BAU: The Chinese in Buso near here have assured Assistant Minister of Community Services Datuk Peter Nansian that they will rally behind Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next state election, which may be called by the middle of next year.

Community leader Kapitan Jee Khi Fhen said his charges would support the renomination of Nansian as Tasik Biru assemblyman under the coalition’s ticket.

According to him, the Buso Chinese would want Nansian to continue with the politics of development for the betterment of the people here.

“He (Nansian) is very humble, very approachable and very caring. People can see him at any time.

“He has been helping the Chinese in Buso for years, bringing in many developments through disbursement of his MRP (Minor Rural Project) grant, as well as allocations for SJK Chung Hua Buso and construction of bridges here,” the Chinese community leader said during a leader-meet-people session at Dewan Tua Pek Kong Buso on Friday, which had Nansian visiting the locals.

The assistant minister, in his speech later, assured the people here that he would continue assisting them and bringing more developments here as long as he was the elected representative.

He also advised them to support BN policies, as well as to back Adenan up in his fight against corruption, illegal logging, extremism and exorbitant electricity tariffs.

At the function, Nansian announced RM5,000 from his MRP grant to the Chinese Buso Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), RM5,000 to Tua Pek Kong Chinese Buso Committee, and another RM5,000 to SJK Chung Hua Buso Parents-Teachers Association (PTA).

“In term of projects, many will come in but such matter is directly under control and purview of the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, as well as relevant agencies such as the (Bau) District’s Office and Sarawak State Development Office,” he said.
