SIBU: The newly formed Sibu Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Committee will be an ideal platform for garnering youths’ support for the coming state election.

Its newly-minted chairman Chieng Jin Ek said the setting up of the committee provided an avenue for the four BN Youth movements in this division, comprising PBB, SUPP, PRS and SPDP, to put their heads together to work out strategies to win the hearts of the younger generation.

“By coming together, we can discuss ways to lure youths of various backgrounds to the BN fold,” Jin Ek told The Borneo Post, adding that their key objective in forming the committee was to strengthen the bonding of their youth wings in preparation for the next state election.

In the coming days, he said more programmes and activities would be held to actively engage youths.

Jin Ek said they would hold especially education-related activities and career exhibition for SPM/STPM and university graduates.

He said the inaugural meeting last Friday was conducted by SUPP Sibu Youth Wing, but the four wings would take turns to host the meeting at their respective venue and the next one would be hosted by PBB.

“We do it this way so that we can visit each other’s office,” he said.

Meanwhile, head of BN for Lanang area Chieng Buong Toon said the meeting of youths from Sarawak BN component parties symbolised the beginning of greater cooperation and strengthening of bonding.

He described it as a historic moment where BN youths gathered under one roof towards a mission to build the nation together.

Chieng, who is also SUPP Bukit Assek chairman, believed that constructive comments and critical appreciations were ways to build better youths.
