SRI AMAN: The state General Operations Force (GOF) seized nearly half a million ringgit in logs and equipment following a raid of a sawmill in Pantu on Tuesday.

The noon operation, led by Inspector Lawrence Saran, saw the seizure of 29 logs of various sizes along with stacks of sawn timber, equipment, heavy machinery and a three-tonne lorry.

The raiding party also detained four foreign workers at the sawmill after they failed to produce any documents.

The illegal migrant workers- two Bangladeshi and two Indonesians aged between 29 and 40- were subsequently held at Sri Aman Police Station under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act.

The seized logs, equipment and heavy vehicles, estimated to be worth around RM470,000 were handed over to the state Forests Department for further action.
