Logs worth RM680,000 seized in Baram

KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has seized 499 illegal logs from Ladang Baru, Temala, Baram.

A press statement from SFC said the logs of various species and sizes had a combined volume of about 800 cubic metres and were estimated to be worth RM680,000 at the current market value.

A routine patrol by an SFC team from Miri discovered the logs left abandoned on Wednesday.

The team, assisted by police personnel from Long Lama, seized the logs that were all without royalty markings.

A police report has also been lodged and the case has been referred to the Forest Department for further investigation.
