KUCHING: 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd is urging customers who are affected by the goods and services tax (GST) pricing error for selected items on the first day of the implementation on Wednesday to contact them to rectify the matter.

In a press statement, the chain convenient store company general-manager for marketing, Ronan Lee, said that any
enquiries could be sent through the private message via 7-Eleven Malaysia’s official facebook page or email to [email protected] with contact details (email and mobile number).

“Newspaper products which we sold incurred a minor increase on the correct price which should not have been charged as newspapers do not attract any GST.

“As soon as the system error was discovered we immediately took action to withdraw these products from sale so that our customers would not be inconvenienced further.

“We understand that the incident must have caused frustration to our customers and for that we sincerely apologise,” Lee said.

He explained that the system error had been corrected and the revised pricing would be implemented as soon as possible and would not sell affected items until the system errors had been fully corrected.

“We have been strong supporters of the GST implementation and even signed a pledge organised by MRA to support the implementation.

“This shows our positive intent to fully comply and support the implementation,” he added.
