SIBU: Some members of Matu-Daro Areas Fishermen Association are hoping the association’s annual general meeting could be reconvened soonest to address the problems fishermen are facing.

The association’s former chairman Sapuani Lis said members approached him recently and asked him to get the association to hold another general meeting.

“According to them, a general meeting was held recently, but they were unhappy that a question-and-answer session was not on the agenda.

“They argued that they need the session to get to the knotty problems they were facing,” Sapuani told reporters here yesterday.

He said members calling for another general meeting were hoping to have another opportunity to get their problems heard and addressed.

Sapuani hoped the Malaysia Fishery Development Board could send representatives to the general meeting if it was convened.

“The presence of the board representatives will ensure speedy resolution to the fishermen’s problems,” he said.

The association has about 800 members.
