1,500 united on Sarawak Cergas Day for a run of healthy lifestyle

MIRI: About 1,500 participants comprising members of the public, government and private employees, members of non-government organisations (NGOs) and students took part in activities held in conjunction with Sarawak Cergas Day 2015 yesterday.

The activities were mass aerobic, fun run and brisk walking.

Held at Miri Civic Centre from 7am, the programme was graced by Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development, Rosey Yunus.

Also present were the organising chairman and Miri Resident Antonio Kahti Galis as well as officer-in-charge of the Miri Social Development Office, Ennie LukongIt kicked off with a mass aerobic, followed by a fun run for men and women as well as brisk-walking which was open to all.

Participants were flagged off by Rosey and Antonio at Miri Civic Centre.

Meanwhile, the programme was launched simultaneously throughout Sarawak by the Ministry of Social Development.

Among the objectives of the programme was to promote a healthy lifestyle and nurture the public’s interest in sports, encourage community participation in various sports activities as well as to promote unity.

Best participants in the fun run were awarded hampers and medals.
