Miri City Day Run 2015 on May 17 to attract 10,000 participants — Mayor

MIRI: The 10-kilometer event for the Miri City Day Run 2015, scheduled on May 17 at Marina ParkCity, is offering a total of RM21,300 cash prizes to the top ten winners for each of the six categories.

Miri mayor Lawrence Lai said the six categories are: Men Open, Women Open, Men Veteran, Women Veteran, Boys Junior and Girls Junior.

“Top ten winners for each category are going to receive RM1,000 for the winner followed by RM700 (2nd), RM500 (3rd), RM350 (4th), RM300 (5th), RM250 (6th), RM200 (7th), RM150 (8th) and RM50 each for 9th and 10th winners,” he told the media in a press conference yesterday.

Besides the cash prizes, Lai added each winner would receive medal and certificate of participation.

The Miri City Council (MCC), he pointed out would give appreciation medals to the first 2,000 finishers for each category.

Those who are interested to join the competition can download the entry form from MCC’s official website.

For the early bird, registration fee is RM30 per person for those who make payment before May 5.

A fee of RM50 per person will be charged for payment made between May 5 and 12.

Completed registration form with payments must be submitted to Miri Public Library on and before May 12.

The library opens from 9am until 8pm (Mondays to Saturdays) and is closed by 3pm on Sundays.

There will also be five kilometer fun run category for families.

“We expect this event, which is in conjunction with Miri City Day 10th anniversary celebration, to attract some 10,000 participants.”

Chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is expected to present the prizes to the winners.
