DBKU supports events that foster relationship

Abang Abdul Wahap is greeted upon arrival by the village kompang group.

KUCHING: Kuching City North Commission (DBKU) greatly supports and welcomes initiatives that gather the community together to foster better relationship among themselves and with the authority.

Speaking at the closing of Kampung Kudei Baru’s Friendly Neighbourhood Community Programme on Sunday, Kuching City North Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said that event such as this also allows them to inter-mingle and offer their services or assistance to one another.

“Today I’m very happy to see many residents here. It shows the programme receives the villagers’ full support. I also want to commend their involvement and commitment to the two days of activity. They are a good example to the other villages around Kuching.”

The event, which began Saturday, included a health walk, exhibition and sales, colouring competition, karaoke competition, ketupat-weaving contest, and talks aimed at teens and parents.

There was also a fun bicycle ride, breast cancer awareness programme, cooking competition, and bodybuilding contest for boys under 12.

“Since it is a very well received activity, I’d like to ask the organising committee to do it again next year,” said Abdul Wahap.

Also present at the closing ceremony were event organising chairperson Seniah Sumbi, Saberkas Satok chairman Mohammad Abdullah Zaidel, Amanita Kuching chairperson DSP Roselina Daud, and Biro Tatanegara Sarawak director Dr Sufian Bujang.
