Miri head of special branch calls it a day

MIRI: Head of police special branch here DSP Lee Pak Ko bids farewell to the department after more than 37 years in the force.

Lee, 60, started his career as a policeman on Jan 1, 1978 after four months of training. He handed over his duties at police headquarters here yesterday.

“I was then posted to Bukit Aman Special Branch until end of 1979, before being transferred to state police headquarters in Kuching.
I was there for 34 years before being transferred to Miri.”

His successor ASP Lee Yen Fang, on the other hand, has been in the force for 20 years and six months.

His first posting was to Kuching in 1995 before being transferred to Bintulu, here, Lawas and then here again. He also served in the special branch.

Meanwhile, Miri police chief, ACP Gan Tian Kee, who was present to witness the handing-over of duties yesterday, thanked (Lee) Pak Ko for his excellent service with the force.

“I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to DSP Lee for all the excellent work he has done while with us here. I enjoyed working with him even though it’s been only one year and two months,” Gan said.

Gan’s deputy Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit was also present at the function.
