KUCHING: The Indian Association Kuching at its triennial general meeting (TGM) recently elected the corporate director of a steel mill here, Nadison Rathenum, as its president for the 2015-2018 term.

The TGM was held at the IAK building in Jalan Rock.

In his welcoming speech, out-going president Anthony Ramanair, who had helmed the association for the past 12 years, hoped more young people would come forward and serve the association.

He thanked the management committee members for working with him during his tenure as president.

It was under Anthony’s leadership that the IAK managed to build the association building that replaced an old wooden building built by the previous management committee many years ago on a piece of land given by the state government to the community in the 1950s.

During the TGM, a past president of the association Dr M N G Majumder donated RM5,000 to the association’s education fund.

Among others elected to the committee were businessman Dr Ganesan Tangamuthu (vice-president I), teacher Ratha Perumal (vice-president II) and Vijaya Menon (honorary general secretary).
