MIRI: Local entertainment company, Vision Entertainment Group, plans to hold a carnival from July 24 to Aug 9 this year at the supposed project site of Senadin Water Theme Park here. Carnival spokesman Ten Chu Kiong said it would be the first organised by the group.
“Although the water theme park is still under construction, we want to do some publicity on it.
“We hope that through the carnival, members of the public would be able to identify the actual locality of the park and on our part, to provide them with first-hand information and latest progress of the project,” he told reporters after presenting an invitation letter to United People’s Party (UPP) Piasau chairman of branch Datuk Hii King Chiong as among the guests of honour alongside Datuk Lau Siu Wai, who is executive chairman of Miri Housing Group – the developer of the park project. Ten said various interesting activities would be in store for visitors throughout the event, the highlight of which would be the ‘Giant Kite Show’.
“We are inviting those who had taken part in the last Borneo International Kite Festival in Bintulu to join us this time. The kite-flying show is scheduled to be held from July 24-26, from 9am-6pm,” he said, adding that Hii and Lau would jointly declare the programme open on July 25.
On other events, Ten said there would be a remote control (RC) speedboat race, a trade expo, food and drinks bazaar, the 1/8 Mitro Buggy On-Road Borneo Open Challenge, Mr Festival 2015, a tug-of-war competition as well as singing performances by artists from here and Peninsular Malaysia.
