KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale occurred in New Britain territory, Papua New Guinea at 4.06 pm Friday.
According to a Malaysian Meteorological Department statement, the quake’s epicentre was 111 km southwest of Kokopo, Papua New Guinea and 3,839 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
No tsunami threat was triggered.-Bernama
