SANTUBONG: Prime Minister today expressed confidence that Santubong parliamentary constituency will remain as a Barisan Nasional’s (BN) stronghold.

As such, he also set the key performance indicator (KPI) of BN’s win rate in Santubong to increase to 90 per cent in the next general election.

“I’m proud to have come today and as proved by so many attendees, I can say that it is now confirmed that Santubong is a government’s stronghold.

“I believe that we shouldn’t just chase those (voters) in the grey areas, we should also look after those in the white areas too. I’m sure by doing so, insyaAllah (God willing), in the next general election, Santubong will continue to be our high-performance stronghold.”

The prime minister said this while addressing the congregation after performing Friday prayers at Nurir Rahmani Mosque in Kampung Santubong, and later proceeded to launch the RM3 million mosque here yesterday, 1st May.

Also present were Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also Santubong Member of Parliament, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

Santubong parliamentary constituency also comprised Tanjung Datu state constituency, which is represented by Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem.

Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi in his speech said that during the 13th general election, BN scored a win rate of 86 per cent in Santubong.

He also expressed confidence that the rate would increase as under Najib’s leadership, Santubong had received almost RM1 billion for its infrastructure and development programmes. — BERNAMA
