MIRI: Homegrown musical band ‘muZzyband’ has released their debut CD featuring two singles, ‘Biarkan Aku Pergi’ (Let Me Go) and ‘Dreams’.

The talented quartet comprises Mohammad Namazi Salleh as vocalist and guitarist, drummer Azroilnizam Sidek or Ijam, guitarist Hanif Rahman and bassist Sixtus Bakansing, or Chef Six.

Frontman Namazi, or Muzzy, is brother of Noh Salleh, the lead singer of Malaysia’s popular indie rock band ‘Hujan’.

According to Muzzy, his wife Ranizah Rahbi – also a songwriter – shares the same passion in music with him.

“My wife has always been supporting my active involvement in music, and it was she who suggested that I should set up as band. In 2009, I met some friends and together, we formed muZzyband – named after my nickname. Currently, we are managed under Natz Production Sdn Bhd.

“In the beginning, our concept was mostly punk rock but as we became more mature, we later decided to venture into pop rock,” the Mirian told The Borneo Post when met during Sarawakiana Carnival 2015 at Pustaka Miri yesterday.

Muzzy said it took them seven years to make their dream of releasing an album come true.

“We thank God for having answered our prayers and we are hoping that this first singles album would receive positive response from music lovers, especially pop rock lovers,” he said.

“The potential hit single ‘Biarkan Aku Pergi’ was written by Chef Six with lyrics by Endah, while ‘Dreams’ was composed by Ijam with lyrics by my wife.

“Our production house is currently promoting our songs through local radio stations.”

For the full-fledged album, Muzzy said it should be ready by this June, adding that the launch is expected to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

“For the album, we have a list of songs ready for release such as ‘Hingga Akhir Nafasku’ (Till End of My Breath), ‘Ingin Sekali Aku’ (I Really Want To), ‘Percaya’ (Believe), ‘Selamanya’ (Forever), and ‘Saat Ini’ (This Moment).”
