SIBU: St John’s Church needs to raise RM90,000 to purchase a vehicle for the church.

At the parish sale in the church compound recently, organising chairman Chambai Lindong said the church has two vehicles – one in poor condition which the church wanted to replace with a new one costing about RM90,000.

“Generous members of the public can come to the church to donate,” he appealed. Chambai said the church was working hard to raise funds.

“It is planning to carry out more fundraising campaigns. Hopefully, we will have sufficient funds to purchase a new vehicle for the church this year,” he said.

The church is targeting to raise RM15,000 from yesterday’s parish sale held in conjunction with Mother’s Day and Gawai Festival, revealed the organising chairman. Heavy rain did not stop church members and members of the public from coming for the drinks and food that include traditional Dayak delicacies. Entertainment was in the form of traditional dances and live band performances.

Among those present was the Vicar of St John’s Church Sibu, Venerable Canon Jamal Senada. Members of the public who would like to contribute may contact the church at 084-348913.
