Teenage motorcyclist dies in crash; elderly man found dead in room

KUCHING: A teenage motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was injured in an early-morning crash near Tapah at Mile 24 Kuching-Serian Road yesterday.

In the 2:15 am accident, 19-year-old Rosman Mohd Ali from Taman Harmoni at Mile 25 Kuching-Serian Road was on his way home with his 18- year-old male neighbourhood friend.

Rosman is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a drain. His friend who got only slight injury was brought to Sarawak General Hospital.

In an unrelated incident, a senior citizen was found dead in a rented house at Jalan Haji Baki here. The body of 70-year-old surnamed Lim, said to be originally from Jalan Kedandi in Tabuan Jaya, was discovered around 2pm yesterday by the house owner who came to check after a neighbour mentioned not having seen the tenant for two days.

The owner and several nearby residents forced open the back door to gain entry into the house and found Lim’s body lying at a corner of a room with several types of medicines nearby. Police were notified and the body was brought to Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
