ILP Miri shines at Creativity, Innovation and Technology contest

MIRI: Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Miri emerged champion in two categories out of three categories contested in the Creativity, Innovation and Technology Competition 2015 on Thursday.

ILP Miri was champion in the Mechanical category with its ‘Mini Thermoelectric Refrigerator’ and also champion in the Computer/Electronic category with ‘Wireless Intercom System’ invention.

The second and third place in the Mechanical category went to Advance Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) Bintulu with their ‘Egg Grading and Cleaning Machine’ invention as well as ‘Automatic Pet Feeding Machine’.

In the Computer/Electronic Category, the second and third place also went to ILP Miri with its inventions on ‘Intelligent Caller Indicator’ (second) and ‘Keys Information Storage’ (third).

The champion in the Electrical Category was Adtec Bintulu with its invention ‘Mobile Air Conditioner and Dryer (MAD) Wardrobe’. Winning the second and third place was ILP Miri with its invention ‘Safety Alarm Fire Extinguisher’ and ‘DJVY Mini Rack’.

Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the objective of the competition was to produce lecturers and students with innovative and creative ideas in order to compete with national and foreign institutions.

“In 2014, the Manpower Department highlighted itself in the Asian Skill Competition held in Hanoi, Vietnam by bringing home the most number of medals through its Malaysian participants. They took home three golds, three silvers and one bronze,” he said.

Lee said the competition, held for the first time yesterday, would best be made an annual event to enhance the students’ creativity and innovations.

At the function, Lee also announced a RM5,000 grant for the organiser to enable them to hold the event again in the future. The competition yesterday was organised by ILP Miri.

ILP Miri director Rosnah Muhammad Tahir, director of Planning and Research at the Manpower Department Faizah Harun, director of KPI, Reporting and Monitoring of Malaysian Innovation Foundation Syarmila Mohamed Salleh and chief judge Abdul Rahman Rosli who is also manager of Malaysia Companies Commission were among those present at the function.
