KUALA LUMPUR: The Asia-Pacific printing industry has the potential to grow by between eight to ten per cent over the next five years.

Towards this end, the annual Forum of Asia Pacific Graphic Arts (FAPGA) 2015 will serve as a platform to help spur this growth in the region.

The event is organised by the Malaysia Printers Association (MPA).

Organising chairman and committee member, Liew Chee Khong said the FAPGA would also help Malaysian printers connect with the participating associations of other countries.

“With the industry having the potential to grow by eight to ten per cent within the next five years, this forum gives participants a bigger opportunity to expand in the ecosystem.

“For this year, ten member countries are getting connected, namely Malaysia, Japan, China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, India and Sri Lanka,” he added.

He added the FAPGA would be held from Aug 7-9, first at Eastin Hotel in Petaling Jaya, and then the Straits Quay, Penang.

“The theme of the FAPGA 2015 is Print Ecology, which is a management imperative to make print businesses more responsive, effective, sustainable and secure in a complex, networked ecosystem.

“The FAPGA 2015 is an international event that aims to gather all stakeholders in the Asia Pacific countries to discuss key issues pertaining to graphic arts and printing matters,” said Liew.

He was speaking at a briefing, after the media launch of the event yesterday by International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister, Datuk Lee Chee Leong and MPA chairman, Datuk Koay Hean Beow. — Bernama
