Keningau rider killed as motorbike hits fallen tree branches

KENINGAU: A local man riding a Yamaha Leganda motorcycle was killed in a road accident at Km 33 Keningau-Sook Road here on Tuesday.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Douglas Nyeging Taong yesterday said the victim, identified as Mohamad Hafiz Musrih, 27, was from Kampung Masjid here, died at the scene at 7.25 pm.

He said the victim was a sawmill worker in Sook here.

Douglas said on May 26, the motorcycle driven by the victim hit the branches of tree that had fallen on the road.

“The incident occurred while the victim was on the way back from Sook to his village at Kampung Masjid here. The victim died at the scene due to severe injuries to the face,” he said.

He said the body of the victim had been sent to Keningau Hospital for post-mortem yesterday.

Douglas said the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
