KKLW committed to repairing state roads affected by floods

KOTA BAHARU: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) is committed to repairing roads which were damaged in all the states affected by floods at the end of last year.

Its deputy minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said as much as RM130 million had been allocated for re-surfacing roads which were damaged by the floods.

“To date, 30 per cent of road repair works have been completed in the East Coast, especially Kelantan … we are trying to complete the works as soon as possible,” he told reporters after officiating at the

2014 Excellence Awards and  Innovation Awards 2015 ceremonies of the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) here yesterday.

“The damage caused include collapsed bridges and the process of repairing will take some  time,” he said.

He added that the ministry

had also repaired 480 houses damaged by the floods in four areas – Kuala Krai, Jeli, Tanah

Merah and Gua Musang. — Bernama
