SIBU: Sarawak PKR will likely field candidates under Pakatan Rakyat in Chinese-majority areas in the 11th state election.

Its Kanowit secretary, George Chen, told a press conference here yesterday that Pakatan would not let BN win any seat uncontested.

“Now that the DAP has left Pakatan, PKR will have to come forward to fight for Pakatan.”

He said the seats that PKR might contest included Repok, Meradong, Dudong, Bawang Assan, Pelawan and Bukit Assek.

Chen said the state constituency of Bawang Assan was likely to be a tussle among three Lau’s and one Wong.

“The DAP will like field Alice Lau, while SUPP will probably send Robert Lau Hui Yew to challenge (Bawang Assan assemblyman) Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.

“PKR has in mind a candidate who is also surnamed Lau.”

Meanwhile, Chen claimed that the Dayak community was unhappy with the government over the recent hike in fuel prices.

He further claimed that many rural folk were now unemployed due to the government’s crackdown on logging activities.
