SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s call for the state to be given more attention by the federal government is supported by all Sarawakians, said chief political secretary to chief minister Abdullah Saidol.

He pointed out on Thursday that Adenan’s consistent efforts to get the federal government to do more for the state had began to gain ground.

“As representatives of rural area, we do have our share of certain level of frustration, particularly that related to allocations for basic infrastructure.

“But to be fair about it and considering other aspects, it is not that the Federal Government did not provide any funds at all.

“Perhaps, current needs and expectation requires more allocation.

“Adenan in his many speeches has always conveyed his concerns about wanting to close the development gap between the rural and urban.

“During the early days, we understand the need to develop catalyst and hub, but in the current situation, planning and structuring towards a develop nation must not be seen to be selective.

“It must be comprehensive and inclusive.

“We are looking forward to see federal agencies to be more vigilance to ensure that govt delivery systems are efficient, high impact and hitting the right target,” Abdullah, who is Semop assemblyman, said.

He said government’s projects and assistance must be actually felt by the people.

Federal funding should also not to be wasted by bad planning therefore working closely with state agencies so as to understand peculiar factors is crucial, he stressed.

“We will not step back in our quest to seek better treatment from the federal government at least as far as our constitutional right are concern.

“But at the same time we will not take the confrontational approach.

“Going towards a develop nation also means developing a civilized mentality and decent attitude,” he said.
