She added that they were happy to have visited the park and will be heading home on Monday.

KUNDASANG: Ervana Thanasegaran and her family, especially her two children were excited to visit Kinabalu Park and see the mountain her father had climbed a few years ago.

However prior to travelling to Sabah on Friday, they heard about the earthquake that struck the mountain area and they contemplated whether they should continue with their plans to head to Kinabalu Park.

“We decided to travel to Sabah anyway and drove up here on Saturday. We stayed at one of the resorts in Kundasang,” she said.

“The first thing we did when we arrived in the park was to speak to a warden who informed us that the park is safe as only the mountain trail was closed to the all,” she said.

Ervena and her family who were met by The Borneo Post while walking around in Kinabalu Park yesterday said that they felt the tremor that struck at 1.45pm on Saturday while they were walking around the park.

“It was of course a shock for all of us as we did not expect that it would happened again. We were in our room when the windows started rattling and the roof shook. The shutters were also swaying during the tremor,” she said.

Ervena and her mother said they were still feeling the effects of the earthquake, a peculiar ‘swaying’ feeling that many people are also experiencing.
