RANAU: The Sarawak state government has donated RM1 million to the Sabah Disaster Relief Fund for victims of the deadly earthquake which hit Sabah on June 5.

Present to hand over the cheque to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman yesterday was Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minster for Public Utilities and Minister for Industrial Development, represented Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem in presenting the donation.

The ceremony was held at the Kinabalu National Park.

It was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who was there to visit the earthquake-hit areas.

Others present at the ceremony included Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan and Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
