KOTA KINABALU: Operation at the water treatment plant in Kampung Kimolihing, which was temporarily halted due to the landslide and mud flood in Ranau last Monday, has resumed last night.

Sabah State Water Department Divisional Engineer for Ranau, Anthony Jullah, said since the plant resumed operation last night, about 50 to 60 per cent of water supply to areas in Pekan Ranau had returned to normal.

“Currently, the water supply is still developing and by noon, we expect treated water supply to be channeled to the whole of Pekan Ranau and the surrounding areas,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

However, Anthony said for residents outside of Pekan Ranau, they had yet to receive water supply as the Kampung Bambangan treatment plant was still under repair.

“The treatment plant was badly damaged due to the mud flood,” he added.

He said about 1,500 water subscribers in 20 to 30 villagers were still experiencing water supply disruption.–BERNAMA
