MIRI: About 500 teachers and parents from across the state are expected to attend the Early Childhood Convention Series 10 that will be held from Sept 18-20 at Mega Hotel here.

Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said the convention, themed Smart Parent-Teacher Collaboration: Catalyst for Quality Early Childhood Education, was meant to improve the knowledge and understanding of parents and teachers about their roles in early childhood education.

“Apart from that, this convention is also meant to improve the skills of parents and teachers so they could build smart collaboration between them in improving the quality of early childhood education,” Fatimah said when presenting Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants at Miri Resident office here yesterday.

The three-day convention would feature three speakers: Prof Dr Mariani Md Nor from Universiti Malaya, retired teacher Dr Siti Zaliha Reduan and Roslin Batu – a teacher from top pre-school SK Paon Tembaga Lundu.

Those interested to join the convention can contact Siti Nurhaiza at 012-8888341 or 082-444212. Registration fee is RM10.
