SIBU: Sarawak Central Region Hoteliers Association has again urged members to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) to beef up security.

Its chairman Johnny Wong Sie Lee reiterated on the necessity, following a disclosure by Sibu police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi that some hotels here have yet to install surveillance cameras.

A dialogue between the association and police held earlier this year put on record the need for CCTV installation.

Mohd Kamal said CCTV installation has its merits, pointing out that the electronic eyes could safeguard the premises. He had also advised house owners to install CCTV cameras.

“CCTV has helped us a lot because when an incident happened, we are able to identify the criminals including those in supermarkets and business premises,” he explained.
