BINTULU: The National Robotics Competition (NRC) is an investment to create quality workforce for the future with a positive perception towards science and technology, said Bintulu Education officer Abdul Muin Abdul Kassim.
“By participating in this programme the children will be able to uncover their hidden potential and creativity,” he said when officiating at the closing of the divisional-level NRC 2015 at SMK Bintulu Cenderawasih hall recently.
He said every year NRC and other experts created the challenges associated with key issues of the real world of today.
“The younger generation are introduced to the challenges, fun and excitement of science and technology,” he added.
At the same time he said they will gain self-confidence, knowledge and skills.
“The NRC programme provides learning experiences that can serve as an inspiration to the children by applying science and technology, enabling them to create their own theories and solutions,” said Muin.
He said a natural curiosity paired with the imagination and creativity of children was important to come up with all kinds of possibilities and solutions.
SK St Anthony Bintulu grabbed first and second places in the pearl diving primary school circuit, while third place went to SK Bintulu.
In the treasure hunt secondary school circuit category, first and second place went to SMK Bintulu while SMK Tatau came in third.
Fourth place went to MRSM Mukah.
Meanwhile in the mountaineering secondary school circuit category, SMK Bintulu dominated the top three positions.
Present during the prize giving ceremony was SMK Bintulu principal Ananthan Subramaniam.
