KAPIT: Some 400 parents recently took part in a major gotong-royong project at SK Methodist.

Parent-teacher association chairman Dominic Chunggat said the gotong-royong coincided with the programme ‘Sarana Ibu Bapa SK Methodist’ aimed at getting parents to be more involved in their children’s education.

“Indeed we’re very happy that over 400 parents participated in the gotong-royong. They came with their own tools to help in the school cleaning to create a conducive learning environment for our children,” he said.

“What’s important to us, parents must develop a sense of belonging to the school and play an effective parental role in their children’s education and also to promote close rapport among parents and teachers.”

SK Methodist is the largest primary school in Kapit District.

Established by the Methodist Mission, the school has some 750 pupils and 47 teachers.
