KUCHING: A past president of Indian Association Kuching (IAK), Dr M.N.G. Majumder, recently donated RM5,000 to the education fund of the association. He announced the donation during the general meeting of the association last April 25. Dr Majumder, a retired medical officer who had served as president of IAK some years back, has always been supportive of efforts of the association to improve the level of education among students from the Indian community. This is the second time that Dr Majumder gave financial aid to the education fund. About 10 years ago, he donated RM10,000 to the fund. The fund will be used to organise study workshops, examination clinics for students sitting for public examinations and for motivational talks on how to excel in school. The association expresses its deepest appreciation to Dr Majumder for the kind assistance. A spokesman said the newly appointed president of IAK, R. Nadison, and his committee had plans to organise a number of activities, including a Deepavali Open House, various charity events, a sports event, educational related talks and community services.
