KUCHING: The firefighting team of Naim Land Sdn Bhd has once again done an amazing job in working with the authorities to extinguish bushfires at Kuala Baram since two weeks ago.

The team, which was set up more than 10 years ago as part of Naim’s contribution to the community, deployed a total of 60 volunteers to assist the authorities to fight the fire amidst extreme weather conditions and strong winds.

Naim’s projects senior manager Abang Mahathir Mohamed in a statement yesterday said the team would continue to implement bushfire preventive measures.

“The fire, which started on July 3, was extinguished on July 12. However, our team will continue to implement various preventive measures such as opening up internal fire breaks and small water ponds using our excavators in certain locations, which have proven to be effective to contain such fires,” he said.

He added the team would also increase the frequency of patrols around areas prone to bushfires.

“We will also continue to remain vigilant and do our part for the community,” Abang Mahathir said.
