KUCHING: The community spirit was sizzling like the scorching sun on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri on Friday as people flocked to open houses of state leaders to share the joy and merriment of the celebration.

Among the guests who attended the open houses was a delegation from KTS Group of Companies led by its deputy managing director Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming.

Among the KTS delegates were KTS Group of Companies chairman Lau Swee Nguong, chief executive officer Dato Henry Lau’s wife Datin Wendy Lau, public relations manager Simon Lao and See Hua Group Kuching area manager Wong Sing Seng.

The delegation extended their warm wishes to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib on the first morning of the celebration at their Raya open house at the Astana Negeri.

At Astana Negeri, Temenggong Lau also managed to catch up and shared a good laugh with Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Dato James Chan.

They then proceeded to the open house of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and wife Datin Patinggi Dato Jamilah Anu at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

There was a tremendous turnout as usual and it came in colour and diversity reflective of Sarawak’s unique community.

The KTS delegates spent time mingling with other guests at BBCK while enjoying a late breakfast of sumptuous array of traditional and local Sarawak cuisines.

Their visiting excursion continued to the residence of state Forest Department director Sapuan Ahmad where they complimented the family for their green themed outfits for this year’s celebration which was in line with the image of the department that he heads.

They also visited the Sarawak Forestry Corporation former CEO Datu Ali Yusop, Ministry of Resource Planning and Environment permanent secretary Datu Sudarsono Osman, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Ghani, Housing, and Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and former state secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Nor.

On the second day, the delegation, comprising senior staff of KTS Group of Companies, continued with their Raya round with visits to the residence of deputy state secretary Datu Misnu Taha, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) general manager Datu Sarudu Hoklai and the Head of State’s private secretary Datu Mustapha Han.
