SIBU: Clumsy thieves left behind tell-tale signs to enable the police to seize a hydraulic press machine that they have stolen.

In just four hours, the 500-kg machine costing RM10,000 was already in the hand of the police after the crime at 10am.

Unknown to the thieves, the machine was dripping oil.

The son of the factory owner followed this oil trail on the road and found where the thieves hid the machine.

When the police seized the machine, the thieves were not in the house, but they have identified them. They are launching a manhunt and are confident of arresting them soon.

The broad-daylight theft occurred when the thieves broke into a factory at Upper Lanang Road. It was a public holiday and there was no one inside.

The daughter of the factory owner came over at noon and found the main entrance partially opened.

She asked the people nearby and was told that four men had carted away a machine.

She saw the oil on the ground and called her brother, who, together with a friend followed the oil trail to a house at Tebedak Road.

They informed the police.

A police team led by DSP Wong Dee Kui, entered the house, found the stolen machine and seize it.
